Urvil Patel is a young Indian wicket-keeper batter who has been making a name for himself in recent years. He is known for his clean stumping, quick reflexes, and aggressive batting style. Patel was born on October 17, 1998, in Mehsana, Gujarat. He started playing cricket at a young age and quickly rose through the ranks of the Gujarat age-group teams.
In 2016, Patel made his first-class debut for Gujarat against Baroda. He scored 35 runs in the match and also took two catches behind the stumps. Patel continued to impress in the domestic circuit, scoring 1,000 runs in the 2018-19 season.
In 2019, Patel was selected to play for the India A team in the Deodhar Trophy. He scored a century in the final against North Zone, helping India A to win the tournament. Patel’s performances also caught the eye of the Indian selectors, and he was named in the Indian squad for the T20I series against Sri Lanka in March 2020. However, he did not get a chance to play in the series.
In 2021, Patel was bought by the Gujarat Titans in the IPL auction for a sum of INR 20 lakh. He made his IPL debut on April 10, 2021, against the Rajasthan Royals. He scored 27 runs in the match and also took two catches behind the stumps. Patel finished the 2021 IPL season with 103 runs in 7 matches.
In 2022, Patel played a key role in Gujarat Titans’ victory in the IPL. He scored 289 runs in 16 matches at an average of 22.23 and a strike rate of 136.67. He also took 12 catches behind the stumps.
