Hangargekar made his domestic debut for Maharashtra in the 2020–21 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He had a breakthrough season in 2022–23, taking 44 wickets in 35 List A matches and 52 wickets in 39 T20 matches. His performances helped Maharashtra to win the Vijay Hazare Trophy and qualify for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy knockouts.
