Shikhar Dhawan is an Indian cricketer who was born on December 5, 1985, in Delhi. He is a left-handed opening batsman and occasionally bowls right-arm off-spin. He made his international debut for India in 2010 and has since become one of India’s most dependable batsmen in limited-overs cricket.

Career Info

Dhawan started his cricketing journey in the Under-16s in Delhi. He made his Ranji Trophy debut for Delhi in 2004 and went on to become a regular in the Delhi side. He was part of the Indian team that won the Under-19 World Cup in 2004.

Dhawan made his international debut for India in an ODI against Australia in 2010. However, he had to wait until 2013 to make his Test debut. He rose to prominence in the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy, where he was the tournament’s leading run-scorer and helped India win the title.

He has been a regular in India’s limited-overs sides and has been a key contributor to their success in recent years. He has also played in domestic T20 leagues around the world, including the Indian Premier League (IPL), where he has represented the Delhi Capitals and the Sunrisers Hyderabad.

In 2021, Dhawan was named the captain of the Indian cricket team for their limited-overs tour of Sri Lanka.
